Dwight D. "Jack" Huffstetler, Sr., age 81, husband of Frances Scharloock Huffstetler, died peacefully at his Hollywood, SC home on April 17, 2012. The family will receive friends Friday, April 20, 2012, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC. Father Antony Benjamine, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will lead the recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM. The Rite of Committal will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 21, 2012, from the graveside at Christ St. Paul's Episcopal Churchyard, Chapel Road, Hollywood, SC. Jack was born in Blacksburg, SC to the late W. Delbert Huffstetler and the late Ethel Henson Huffstetler on November 6, 1930. He was the retired Foreman of the Metals Inspector Nondestructive Test Division of the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force before joining the Shipyard in 1951. He had been an active parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church on Yonges Island and a member of its Men's Club. Jack was blessed to have been married to the love of his life for 62 years. A devoted family man and a humorous storyteller, he cherished large family gatherings where he always provided an abundance of love, food and laughter. He was a man with enormous strength of character who thought nothing of his own personal sacrifice in order to help others. He is survived by his wife, Frances, two daughters, Patricia H. Wolters, of Mt. Pleasant and Donna H. Logerot of Charleston, a son, Dwight D. Huffstetler, Jr. of Hollywood, eight grandchildren and four great grandchldren.
