Dr. Robert Adger Walter, 81, of Charleston, the husband of Marie "Penny" Branham Walter, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 1, 2010 at his residence. Dr. Walter was born in Charleston, SC on Sunday, July 21, 1929, the son of the late Dr. George Wilmot Walter and Ida Frances Harbourt Walter. He was a graduate of Porter Military Academy, the College of Charleston and the University of Illinois, Chicago College of Optometry. Dr. Walter served in the U.S. Army as an Optometry Officer during the Korean War, transferring into a reserve unit after the war and retiring as a Colonel. He was a Optometrist in the Charleston area for 43 years with the last years as a partner with the Eye Care Center of Charleston. Dr. Walter is survived by his loving wife, Marie "Penny" Branham Walter of Charleston, SC; daughter, Fran Walter of Goose Creek, SC; sister, Emilie Jensen of Virginia Beach, VA; brother-in-law, Jesse Branham of Walterboro, SC and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home. The relatives and friends of Dr. Robert A. Walter are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 1:00 PM, Graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
