Dorothy Ellen Ritter

Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, Dorothy" Dottie" Ellen Smith Ritter, the widow of Julian Ealy Ritter, Sr. of Charleston, SC. Dorothy was born on February 20, 1921, in Charleston, a daughter of Cleveland Henry and Margaret Theresa Cosgrove Smith. She attended Jane Simmons School, Memminger School for Girls and graduated from Murray Vocational High School. Dorothy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a sales clerk at Belk's Department for thirtreen years and will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children: Sr. Mary Joseph Ritter, OLM, J. Ealy Ritter, Jr. (Debbie), Linda E. Mabry (John), Margaret T. Berard (John), Stephen J. Ritter (Cheryl) and Michael L. Ritter (Angie); her brother: George A. Smith as well as seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Dorothy S. Ritter are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Friday, December 23, 2011, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends this Thursday between 5:00 and 7:00 Pm at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Roasry will be recited at 6:30 PM at the funeral home.
