Charleston, SC - Mrs. Dorothy Balint Ring, 84, widow of Ed Ring, entered into eternal life the morning of Friday, June 26, 2015. The relatives and friends of Dorothy B. Ring are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends between 5:00 & 7:00 PM Friday, July 3, with the recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 PM. Mrs. Ring was born on July 16, 1930 in Harvey, IL. She retired after 33 years as an executive secretary with Westvaco. She was a daughter of the late John Henry Balint and Mary Katherine Oxley Balint. Mrs. Ring was raised by her loving grandmother, Irma Kasprak Balint. In 1948 she married Ed Ring, the love of her life. At the time of his death in 2000 they were married for fifty-one years. They shared a deep love and devotion to all of their family, instilling the importance of continuing family traditions, no matter how small. Our matriarch will continue to have a strong presence in our hearts and in our lives. Surviving are three daughters: Darlene Ring Ostrander and her husband Bob of Mebane, NC; Carol Ring Meyer and her husband Frank; and Kathleen Ring Bland and her husband Jay, all of Charleston, SC. Survivors also include ten grandchildren: Robert E. Ostrander, Kristine O. Cox (Matt), Theresa O. Gebhardt (Eric), Richard L. Ostrander (Laura), Karen M. Smith (James), David F. Meyer (Christina), Drew E. Meyer (Christy), Steven J. Meyer, Jennifer B. Thompson (Michael) and Logan E. Bland (Katrina). She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Abby, Ella, and Lily Cox, Austin and Emma Grace Gebhardt, Mackenzie Ostrander, Caroline, Amelia, and Sullivan Smith and Hudson Meyer.
