Doris M. Miller passed away on the morning of February 27, 2012. She celebrated 86 years of life with wonderful friends and family, had a devoted husband who loved her dearly for 62 years of marriage and a daughter and grandson of whom she was so proud. Mrs. Miller was born in 1925 in Bessemer, Al and was predeceased by her parents, Albert C. May, Louise Carlisle May and a brother, Albert (Buddy) May, Jr. Doris is survived by her husband, Ralph L. Miller; a daughter, Sandra M Russ and grandson, John D. (Trey) Russ III. She was member of The Church of the Good Shepherd and served on the altar guild for many years. The DOES Drove # 231 made her a lifetime member as she was their Charter President, an active member and participated in many of their charitable and social functions. She also supported her husband as his First Lady of the Elk's Exalted Ruler and State President. In addition, she was a member and past President of the Pilot Club. Doris loved to travel, shop, spend time with her family and friends, and never met a stranger. She worked at First Federal of Charleston as a New Accounts representative. We will miss her very much. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Miller are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the James McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
