Doran Terry Mcnamara

Doran Terry McNamara, 85, of Charleston, SC passed away January 18, 2022.

He was born on December 12, 1936, in Midland, Michigan, son of Doran Oral McNamara and Janet Ellen McKinnon. He leaves behind three daughters: Krista (Charles) Groover, Angella (Ronald) Oliver, Veronica (Andrew) Mack; grandchildren: Michaela, Marcus, Cassie, Ryan, Johnathan, Noah and great-grandchildren: Bryan, Annabelle, Arya, Olivia.

Terry was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Rosemary Ellen McAlevy.

He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in Vietnam and had tours in Antarctica. Terry was employed by the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Kiawah Island Ocean Course and Lowes.

Terry was a loving and devoted father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was active in all kinds of things. He volunteered with The Girl Scouts on camping trips, as well as volunteering with the CYO at Blessed Sacrament Church. He did almost anything someone asked of him. There was a period of time when he would ride his bike around Charleston at night. He would help direct traffic at accident scenes. Dad was a quiet, but caring man. He often came across as gruff, but he loved those he cared for.
