Donna Brinson Wells

Our loving Mother, Donna Elise Brinson Wells, 84, of Charleston, SC sadly left us Wednesday, March 15, 2023, to join the Heavenly Father.

Mom was a native of Charleston and grew up on Jackson Street in Downtown Charleston. She was the second of seven other siblings, five sisters and two brothers. Mom loved to crochet and sew. Her father, Emile Brinson, bought Mom her first sewing machine. She began to sew clothes for the other siblings at a youthful age. Mom sewed a wedding gown for a Granddaughter that was worthy of appearing in a fashion magazine. In Mom’s senior year in high school, she was voted Miss Charleston High. Yes, she was that beautiful and talented.

When she was in her early twenties, Mom went to work in telecommunications, working for Bellsouth and later AT&T. She would eventually make her way up to working as a switchboard operator and went on to be a supervising manager. Mom decided to retire after more than 22 years in telecommunications, and later went on to work in accounting at a bed and breakfast Inn located in Downtown Charleston at the Battery.

Mom’s life was enriched by her two companions and loving boys Bandit and Max Wells, a Pug and Dachshund. She showered them with love and affection and they adored her in return.

Mom is survived by her loving son Michael Allen Wells (Cindy Jordan-Wells) and her daughter Lynda Lee Wells-Stearns (Sheldon Stearns III); her brother Emile R. Brinson (Jackie Piersol-Brinson); her sister Dorothy Mae Brinson-Mercier (Thomas Mercier), and her youngest sister Sharon Marguerite Brinson-Diamond; as well as several loving Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.
