Donald E. Moors, Jr.

Donald "Don" Edward Moors, Jr., 76, of Charleston, South Carolina, a beloved spiritual mentor, devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather peacefully passed away at home on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Born in Old Town, Maine on May 31, 1950, the son of the late Donald E. and Mary (Ouellette) Moors, Sr. For Don, and his sister, Janet "Net", childhood was shaped by the ebb and flow of their father's Active-Duty career in the United States Navy that took the family to duty stations throughout the United States.

As a young man, Don called the University of Maryland, College Park, home, becoming a brother with Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and being inducted into Phi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. In 1972, Don graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Physiology.

Following in his father's footsteps, after graduation, Don accepted a commission in the United States Navy, ultimately serving 5 years and attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Primarily based at NAS Oceana, Don served his country as a Radar Intercept Pilot with the Red Ripper Squadron, the US Navy's oldest continually active fighter squadron.

Faith and family have always been central to Don's journey, and it was during his time in the Navy that he met and married his loving wife, Linda Ball, on October 18, 1975. Don and Linda shared almost 51 years together, building a beautiful life filled with love and shared faith. Don and Linda are the parents of two sons: Donald III and Daniel, who continue to be a constant source of pride and joy for them.

Following his military service, Don transitioned into private industry, spending 24 years with MeadWestvaco, working with Sales Management and Technical Sales within the Chemical Division and five years with Sealoflex, Inc. as a Sales Manager. In both roles, he brought diligence and integrity - ensuring the safety and quality of both the product being sold and the service being rendered.

Above all, Don was a devoted husband, a cherished father, and a spiritual mentor to many. Having spent the better part of 30 years as an elder at his beloved James Island Christian Church, a handful of years serving on the James Island Christian School Board, as well as dedicating many years, hours, blood, sweat, and tears into his Love and Care Ministry at James Island Christian Church, his life was a testament to faith, humility, and perseverance.

Don will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness and unwavering dedication to God and His Church.

Don is survived by his loving wife and partner, Linda Moors of Charleston, South Carolina; his children: Donald E. Moors III and his wife Stacy of Tampa, Florida and Daniel Moors and his wife, Amanda of Charleston, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Kenny, Christian, Caroline, and Guy; his sister, Janet (Moors) Janssen and her husband, Herb of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial prayer service celebrating Don's exceptional life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at James Island Christian Church, 12 Sawgrass, Charleston, SC 29412. We invite all who knew and loved Don to join us in honoring his memory.
