Donald Jones

Donald Jones, 91, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Monday morning, November 27, 2017. The relatives and friends of Donald Jones are invited to attend his Funeral Service, at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the graveside, Riverview Memorial Park. Don was born to George and Minnie Jones at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 24, 1926. Retired Army Sergeant First Class Donald Jones was career military and a World War II veteran. He served in the Philippines and was part of the Army of Occupation in Japan in 1945. During his 20-year Army career, Don was also stationed in Germany and France. His last active duty station was in Army ROTC at the Citadel in Charleston, SC. When he retired from the Army in 1962, he continued to work in the same position at the Citadel in a Civil Service capacity. Don retired from the Citadel in 1986. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Alma Johnson Jones; his brothers, George Clark Jones, Jr., Raymond Jones, Louis Edward Jones, and Frederick Jones; and his adopted daughter, Sharon Jones Satterwhite. He is survived by his son, Donald Louis Jones and daughter-in-law Clarice Marchman-Jones; his grandsons, William Satterwhite, Harper Marchman-Jones and Dylan Marchman-Jones; and his granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Satterwhite.
