Don L. Steed

Charleston, SC - Mr. Don L. Steed, 81, a retired Pilot and husband of Lannette B. Steed, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015. The relatives and friends of Don L. Steed are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy., Charleston. Don was born June 1, 1934 in Tyler, TX, the son of the late Dorothy McKibben and S.F. Steed. He graduated from Texas A & M with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot, and afterward he established Steed Flying Service, which operated for 43 years from the Johns Island Airport. For many years, Don did crop spraying, and in later years he did Mosquito Control spraying for several counties, including Charleston County. Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lannette Barnes Steed, 3 children: Don S. Procter (Kelli), Kelly Ross Steed (Elizabeth), and Rene Jervey Russell; 1 Granddaughter, Jessica Dankert; 2 Great-grandchildren, Bailey and Mackenzie Dankert; and 2 Sisters, Pat Cook and Vada Shaw.
