Don Michael Clanton, Jr.

February 25, 1980 — February 2, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don Michael Clanton, Jr., a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left this world to be with Jesus on February 2, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina. Born on February 25, 1980, Michael lived his life with joy, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

A proud Charleston native, Michael will be remembered for his warm personality and infectious laughter. He was known for his passion for sports, frequently sharing his extensive knowledge of football statistics. Whether he was bowling with friends or playing basketball and football, Michael's caring attitude and loving spirit always brought people together, fostering lasting memories and camaraderie.

In his professional life, he went by Don. He found purpose as a plumbing mechanic, dedicating years to mastering his craft and serving his community with pride. Though he retired, the friendships he built and the bonds he formed during his career remained an integral part of his life.

Michael's strong Christian faith was a cornerstone of his identity. Recently, he found joy in his spiritual journey, celebrating his recent baptism at Folly Beach - a reflection of his deep commitment to his beliefs and his love for the natural beauty of South Carolina.

He leaves behind his father, Don Clanton; his mother, Nancy Clanton; and his sisters Audrey Clanton and Claudine Frizzell. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Bart Frizzell; a nephew, Raiden Frizzell; and a niece Kira Frizzell. He is also survived by an aunt Betty Clanton of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by many cousins and numerous second cousins in Charleston, Savannah, and beyond. Each of them will carry his memory in their hearts as they navigate through their grief, finding comfort in the love they shared.

Those who knew Michael will gather to honor his life in a funeral service that will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Fort Johnson Baptist Church, 1473 Camp Road, James Island. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, reflecting on the many ways Don, Jr. enriched their lives. A private burial will take place at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Savannah, GA. Family and friends are encouraged to join in celebrating his legacy, sharing stories, laughter, and the love he so freely gave.

Rest in peace, Michael. Your light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved you. You will be greatly missed.
