Entered into eternal rest on August 3, 2009, Dolores Catherine Peirano Sloan, wife of Bert L. Sloan, of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bert L. Sloan are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends this Tuesday evening between 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. A Vigil Service will begin at 6:30 PM. Dolores was born in Charleston on January 3, 1924, a daughter of Augustine E. and Helen Sturcken Peirano. She graduated from Bishop England High School and worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for many years as a bookkeeper. In 1980, the family moved to Bainbridge, GA. and she again worked as a book keeper for the Marine Base in Dothan, AL. She retired in 1989 and returned home to Charleston. Dolores was loved very much by her family and friends and was a joy to be around. She always able to bring a smile to your face. Her laughter was infectous. Dolores never met a stranger and will be missed by everyone. She is survived by her husband, Bert L. Sloan; her daughters, Cheryl S. Schenck and her husband, Robert, and Cindi D. Kirkland and her husband, Michael, as well as a grandson, Michael L. "Kirk" Kirkland, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association 1941 Savage Rd. Charleston, SC 29414.
