David William Siddons

April 6, 1964 — February 6, 2024

David William Siddons passed away unexpectedly Feb. 6, 2024, at his Kiawah Island, SC home.

David was a 1982 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he ran track, enjoyed cruising uptown Hillsboro and made many lasting friendships. He treasured seeing his classmates at class reunions. He also attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor of arts in accounting and graduated in 1985. He immediately sat for the CPA exam and passed all parts on his first attempt.

He and his parents took yearly vacations to South Carolina throughout his childhood, and he fell in love with the wonderful people of the state and beautiful warm weather. His plans were always to move to South Carolina after graduation. This dream came true when he began his career as an auditor for the prestigious Arthur Andersen Accounting Firm in Columbia, SC.

After two years of working for the firm and becoming a Certified Public Accountant, David was accepted to the University of South Carolina College of Law, where he matriculated in 1987 and graduated with a juris doctorate in 1990. After practicing law for a year, he was accepted into New York University College of Law’s LLM master of law in taxation program, where he graduated the following year.

Upon the completion of his education, David moved back to Columbia, SC and opened his own law office, Siddons Law Firm, in 1992. He was immediately successful and quickly became a respected member of the bar. He helped many clients avoid and resolve difficult situations. He always set aside some time from his busy schedule to assist some of the needy with pro bono help.

His children were a great joy to him. They had many happy times living on, and exploring, Lake Murray. David and his sons enjoyed boating, fishing and jet skiing on the lake, as well as archery, fireworks and classic Ford Mustangs.

One of David’s most cherished passions was his wife, Kim, whom he affectionately referred to regularly as “Babe.” He and Kim drove across the country several times exploring each state along the way. David had an extreme admiration for his country, and together they planned and committed to driving through all 50 states of America. One of their favorite trips involved watching the USC basketball game in the Final Four tournament, and then traveling out to California to Sonoma and Napa Valley for wine touring. David loved Kim fiercely and there wasn’t a day that passed that he didn’t tell her how much he adored her. Every morning and every evening, he told her he loved her. There was no doubt in anybody’s minds that they were the love of each other’s lives. A favorite pastime for the couple was searching for sand dollars on Kiawah Beach, and David always encouraged Kim to find “just one more” before heading back home. Together they relished sunsets and bike rides, or anything really, as long as it was spent together on the beach they loved the most out of any place they could’ve chosen to live.

After the passing of David’s father, his mother, Ann, moved from Hillsboro to Charleston in 2022 to be near David and Kimberly’s Kiawah Island home. David had just retired to enjoy island life with his family, which makes his unexpected passing even more tragic. He was a wonderful man, and David will be sorely missed.

David is survived by his wife, Kimberly Siddons; his sons, William Siddons, 29, of James Island, SC and Daniel Siddons, 26, of Chapin, SC.; and his mother Ann (Holladay) Siddons, 90, of Mount Pleasant, SC. (formerly of Hillsboro).

David was preceded in death by his father, William Siddons of Hillsboro.

His funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the graveside, Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC.
