It is with much sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of David Robert Lott, a member of our family and community, who departed this life on April 30, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, David spent his life dedicated to his family and his faith. He graduated from Bennettsville High School in Bennettsville, South Carolina followed by two years at Holmes Bible College in Greenville, South Carolina.
David was known for his compassion and devotion to his family. After losing his mother, he provided loving care for his father and supported his sister with unwavering dedication. Family was his joy, and he cherished the time spent with his many cousins, especially with the younger children. At holiday times David always wanted to sit at the kids' table where he would enjoy talking with the young ones and hearing about all their activities. Being with the youngsters seemed to keep David young.
David was a faithful member of Monck's Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church. When his health allowed, he was always present twice on Sunday and every Wednesday night. There he found love and fellowship that sustained him through his many illnesses. He enjoyed driving the church van to transport members to various revivals and camp meetings. And he always loved the delicious food prepared by the ladies of the church for special events!
A gifted musician, David brought joy to many through his passion for playing the organ at the churches he attended during his life. His love of history, the Bible and his lively conversations made him a cherished companion to friends and clients alike. As a hairdresser, he had a special fondness for his older customers. Often he would transport those who could no longer drive and bring them to his place of work.
In this time of loss, we invite all who knew and loved David to join us for a celebration of his life. David's legacy will be honored during a visitation on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Parlor B, James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 604 Fort Johnson Road, on May 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM, where he will be laid to rest in peace.
David was preceded in death by his father William Lott, mother Marian Lott and sister, Marsha Lott. He is survived by his many cousins and their extended families who will miss him deeply but remember him lovingly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Monck's Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church, 207 Newell St., Monck's Corner, SC 29461.
“Planning to send flowers?” Please note that the family has requested donations in David’s memory to his church.
