David John Harvey, 67, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston, South Carolina after a brief illness. Born In Cheltenham, County of Gloucestershire, England, on June 30, 1955, David was the son of the late Kenneth Harvey and Catherine Devlin Harvey.
David was certified as a Master Automobile Technician by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and received numerous awards and citations attesting to his competence throughout his lifelong career. He was a veteran of the British Army, having served in the Cheltenham Platoon of "A" Company, 1st Battalion, Wessex Regiment.
Besides his outstanding mechanical abilities, David was also a first-class distiller of homemade spirits, often gifting his friends and family with tasty concoctions of lemoncello, banana brandy, and coffee liqueur. He enjoyed walking around downtown Charleston's Battery, watching Premier League Football and professional golf, and following his brother Phil's car racing adventures.
In addition to his parents, David was pre-deceased by his wife, Donna Smith Harvey. He is survived by his brother Philip Harvey of Birmingham, England, and stepdaughter Sara Ksenzak Halperin of San Diego, California. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Franklin.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
