Darlene May Roberson, 84, beloved mother and grandmother, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, July 5, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 Saint Teresa Drive, Charleston.
Darlene was born January 17, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa, a daughter of George and Lucille Schuttpelz. Darlene was devoted to God and her family. She taught by example what is important in life – to love, support and care for family, friends, and those in need. Darlene always found people to help and did so with compassion and a smile. She taught her children to be strong, never quit, always look for the positive, and don’t complain about what can’t be changed. She always said life isn’t fair, smile through the pain, and don’t let anyone see you cry. Darlene was a firm believer in standing up for what is right, even if it is hard and being kind and helping others is part of who we are.
Darlene was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She touched the lives of so many people, and she will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Darlene is survived by three daughters, Kelley Torongeau (Tim), Rhonda Sweatman (Glen), and Terrey Doyle (Dan); a son Kenneth Roberson (Lori); a brother George Stanley Schuttpelz (Jan); a sister Shirley Shea; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Clyde Schuttpelz, a sister-in-law Carol Schuttpelz, and a brother-in-law Paul Shea.
It was Darlene’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
