Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, Constance Dena Lempesis Calamas, widow of James Calamas, of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Constance Dena Calamas are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 19, 2018, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday between 3:00 and 5:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Trisagion Service will begin at 4:30 PM.
Constance was born in Charleston on March 2, 1924, a daughter of Nicholas P. and Ethel P. Lempesis. She was educated in Charleston area schools and graduated from Memminger High School. Constance was employed by the U. S. Postal Service before joining the family business, a neighborhood grocery store located at 1 Council St. She and her sister owned and operated the Tower Restaurant for many years. Constance dedicated her life to her parents and her family.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Thomas Haley, Happy Lempesis, Peter Lempesis, Chris and Greg Lempesis, Dianne Lempesis Rustin, Pamela, Joanne, Sharon, Happy Lempesis III, Jess Lempesis and Claudia Lempesis. In Lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions in her memory to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 30 Race St., Charleston, SC 29403, or to any Charity of your choice.
