Colleen Dufort Evans Petterson

Colleen duFort Evans of Folly Beach, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 8, 2010 at her home. The family will receive friends this Monday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. Funeral services will be private. Colleen was born October 13, 1962 in Charleston, daughter of L. Wilbur and Yvonne duFort Evans. She was a graduate of Bishop England High School and attended the College of Charleston. She worked in the restaurant business all of her life and was co-owner of Brent's on Broad for ten years, along with her former husband, Brent Petterson. She took great pride in her work and befriended many of her customers over the years. Colleen knew no strangers. Everyone was her friend and all that knew her will dearly miss her. She was treasured by her family and many friends, including four-legged ones - especially Jack, her yellow lab and Miss Howie her cat. Colleen is survived by her parents, Grandmother Gertrude M. duFort, two brothers, Mark V. Evans (Barbara) and Lewis W. Evans, Jr., and her beloved nephews, Mark and Harry Evans, all of Charleston, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother Timothy M. Evans.
