Coleman A. Carven, 55, of Charleston, South Carolina, son of Mary S. Carven and the late Christopher J. Carven, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 9, 2017. The relatives and friends of Mr. Coleman A. Carven are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Nativity Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 12:30 and 1:30 PM at a reception to be held at Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community. Coleman was born in Surrey, England, on August 5, 1962. He lived in Summit, New Jersey, where he worked as a bond trader for Rickel & Associates; Hilliard Lyons; and then as an office manager for Argent Contracting Co. He moved to Charleston in 2012. He was one of six siblings – Mary Beth DeRose (Anthony); Christine Faenza (Richard); Claire Schauseil; Catherine Carven (Mikel Frank); John Carven (Jeanne) and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews (to whom he was known as “Uncle Thirsty”). He made time in his life to be there for all of them as family was extremely important to him. He loved to travel with both family and friends, particularly enjoying Key West, Clemson football games and the NY Giants. He had an irreverent sense of humor and kept all of us on our toes.Coleman was a supporter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and recently participated in the Light the Night Walk at Patriots Point. His wish is that in lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to LLS, 941 Houston Northcutt Blvd, Suite 203, Mt. Pleasant SC 29464.
