Clifton Olaf Widner, Jr.

March 11, 1941 — January 8, 2010

Clifton "Crit Dog" Olaf Widner, Jr., 68, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 8, 2010. He was born in Maryville, TN, the son of Clifton O. Widner, Sr and Agnes Stinnett Widner, on Tuesday, March 11, 1941. Mr. Widner spent his whole career at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, where he was a Ship Superintendent. He also spent many years coaching football at the St. Andrew's Playground. Mr. Widner is survived by two sons, Gregory J. Widner and his wife Kelly and Jeffrey A. Widner; a daughter, Leslie W. Stubblefield; a son-in-law, Paul Stubblefield and two grandchildren, Joseph M. Widner and John W. Widner. He is predeceased by a son, Clifton O. Widner III. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Charleston. All other services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation 676 Wando Park Blvd. Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
