Claudia Mahler Delorme

Claudia Mahler 'Susie' DeLorme, 93, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on March 15, 2023. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM, Friday, March 24, 2023, at Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Rd. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 4:00 and 6:00 PM, Thursday afternoon at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Rosary will be recited at 5:45 PM.

Susie was born March 21, 1929, in Mobile, AL the daughter of Charles and Mabel Mahler. She graduated from Murphy High School. Susie met and married her beloved husband, Charles T. 'Ted' DeLorme, Jr. and ultimately settled in Charleston. Susie retired from Met Life after many years of faithful service. She was a member of the Doe’s at the Elks Lodge, but her greatest love was service to God, family and friends. As a fifty year member of The Church of the Nativity, Susie served as a greeter, lector and Eucharistic minister.

Raising four children, she was actively involved in band, sports, scouts and other school activities. Susie was a true southern lady who loved and touched everyone she met. She was truly blessed to have so many friends who loved and cared for her.

In addition to her parents, Susie was predeceased by her husband, Charles T. DeLorme Jr.; her brother, Charles Mahler;  her sister, Marie Alexander and daughter in law, Debra DeLorme.

Susie is survived by her children, Ted DeLorme, Lynn Logan (John), Mary Lee Chauncey (Terry), Peggy Burger (Bob), her brother, Marshall Mahler (Jo) as well as six loving grandchildren, Chris, Andrew (Kim) and Ryan Logan, Kyle Chauncey, Michael and Caitlyn Burger.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nativity Catholic Church in her memory.
