Clarence (Clem) Adkins, 88, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015. The relatives and friends of Clarence Adkins are invited to attend his Funeral Service at Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2014 Bees Ferry Rd, Charleston at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2015, with Reverend Greg Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Black Creek Cemetery in Cross, SC. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. this Friday between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Clarence Adkins was born in Eutawville, SC to James Dewey Adkins and Hattie Mitchum Adkins on September 20,1926. He worked for Westvaco at the North Charleston paper mill and retired after 48 years of service as a Senior Head Tester in the quality lab. Mr. Adkins was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a wonderful gardener and an excellent cook. He enjoyed interacting with people and will be remembered for his countless catfish stews and fish fries. Mr. Adkins was deeply loved and will be remember dearly by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Phyliss V. Adkins; three brothers, Charlie Adkins, Bill Adkins, Edgar Adkins and a sister, Edna Cross. Mr. Adkins is survived by his four children: Sandy Tague (Steve), Gwen Pasquino (Jim), Debbie Adkins,and Barry Adkins (Sylvia); six grandchildren: Kevin Tague (Heather), Mike Pasquino (Lana), Kelly Musselman (Todd), Krissy Frates (Matt), Patrick Adkins, Rebekah Adkins; five great grandchildren: Lillian Tague, William Tague, Isabella Pasquino, Ava Pasquino, Luke Pasquino and four sisters: Betty Sanders, Dot Eichman, Syble Lyons and Geneva Fogle as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd. Mt Pleasant, SC 29464.
