Christian E. Loeffler age 79, of Seabrook Island, husband of Maryann Taylor Loeffler, SC, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015. Christian was born November 23, 1935 in Belgard Germany to Eugene Loffler and Christel Gabriel Loffler. He had a long international career as a shipping and chemical fertilizer trading executive. Christian started with Ahenkiel Steamship Group in Hamburg, Germany, and held positions with Dow Chemical Co. in Houston, Texas, and Transammonia Inc. in New York, where he eventually served as executive vice president. He finished his career as the founder and chief executive officer of United Ammonia LLC. His guestbook may be signed online at www.charlestonfunerals.com. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Andrea Loeffler Purtell; son, Christian M. Loeffler; daughter in law Kooheil Chatterji; grandchildren, Ellen, Brian, Robin and Ruby. He is also survived by his brother, Wolfgang Loeffler, Sister, Renata Stachow, son in law Stephen Avary and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and daughter Michelle Avary. Christian will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially his love of tennis, spending the day on his boat, playing golf, going with friends and family to his favorite restaurants, his great sense of humor and so much more. There is no formal service scheduled at this time. A memorial with scattering of ashes at sea will follow at a later date.
