Christel G. Platt, widow of the late David E. Platt, a dedicated nurse and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 99. The relatives and friends of Christel G. Platt are invited to attend her funeral service 11:00 AM Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Churchyard on Chapel Road in Hollywood, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Born on March 28, 1926, in Goldberg, Germany, Christel immigrated to the United States, where she embraced her new life and made significant contributions to the field of nursing. A proud graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, Christel served with unwavering commitment as a registered nurse at the VA Medical Center. Her compassion for her patients and her dedication to the healthcare profession earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and families alike.
Christel was a committed member of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does and the Women's Missionary Union of the Southern Baptist Convention, reflecting her deep faith and philanthropic spirit. She was also a long-time member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church, where she found joy in fellowship and service.
Christel is survived by her loving nephews Charles Platt, Sr. and Milton Platt, who will miss her dearly, 2 stepsons and 2 stepdaughters, and countless friends and loved ones whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MUSC Nursing Scholarship Fund to honor Christel's lifelong passion for nursing and her dedication to nurturing future generations of healthcare professionals.
