CHARLOTTE B. SOTTILE CHARLESTON ~ Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, Charlotte Brown Sottile, widow of Nicholas Joseph Sottile. She was born on September 20, 1915 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of John Howell Brown and Mary Charlotte (Lottie) Hobbs Brown. Charlotte received her degree as a registered nurse from Church Home Hospital in Baltimore, MD and a degree as a laboratory technician from Hamaman Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She practiced nursing at both hospitals for several years, primarily in the operating room. On February 1, 1941, she married Nicholas Joseph Sottile of Charleston, SC. Charlotte served as a member of the Altar Society of St. Mary's and a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital for many years. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Jo Manning of Chevy Chase, MD and Carol Sottile Johnson of McLean, VA, five grandchildren - Christopher N. Manning, Ashley M. Still, Courtney S. Johnson, Nicole L. Johnson and Brady E. Johnson, and four great-grand children The relatives and friends of Charlotte B. Sottile are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 1, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM.
