Charlotte Jane Bishop

August 15, 1947 — May 17, 2015

Charlotte Jane Bishop, 67, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 17, 2015. The relatives and friends of Charlotte J. Bishop are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Catholic Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday between 6:00 & 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Born in Eugene, Oregon, Charlotte was born August 15, 1947, a daughter of the late Lawrence Herbert and Betty Jane Elliott Clark. She was a classy lady with a multitude of attributes. She loved cooking, baking (especially making gingerbread houses with the kids), the beach, fishing with Gene on the High Roller, traveling the country in their motor coach, and making friends wherever they went. Most of all, Charlotte loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her world. And it goes without saying that the love of her life, Gene, was her soulmate. Charlotte is survived by the love of her life, E.L. (Gene) Bishop, Sr., 5 children: Duane (Beth) Bishop, Sherea (LeGrand) Hardee, Greg Sealey, Tricia (Buster) Altine, and Gene Bishop, Jr., 15 Grandchildren and 13 Great-grandchildren, and last but not least, Virginia Heyward was Charlotte's housekeeper for 34 years and second mother to her kids and grandkids; she was, and still is, part of the family. Charlotte was preceded in death by her daughter Katherine Jean Sigred Bishop and grandson Gilbert (Trey) Hardee, III. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, P.O. Box 417, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29465 (www.bridgessc.org).
