Charles Paul Yerbury

Charles Paul Yerbury, 89, a resident of James Island, South Carolina, peacefully departed this world on March 3, 2025. He was born March 26, 1935, in New York, NY. Charles lived a life marked by service and commitment.

Charles dedicated two decades as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, exhibiting not only his dedication but also his remarkable skills and leadership. Following his Naval career, Charles spent another 20 years as a mechanical designer at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

Chuck was known for his independence and tenacity, traits that he wore like a badge of honor. His welcoming spirit and keen sense of humor drew many neighbors from Lighthouse Point to his home. He always enjoyed them helping with his latest jigsaw puzzles or anything he might be tinkering with that day. He was an avid Sudoku player and reader. Family and friends fondly remember Chuck for his quick wit and welcoming demeanor. It was here that he built lasting friendships.

Chuck was known by many names: Daddy, Uncle Tar, Poof and Popsan and was loved by all. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Winter (Mark); a sister, Ann Nolan of Mooresville, NC and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne "Vonnie" Yerbury; his mother, Marie Sylvester Yerbury; his father, Charles C. Yerbury and his sister, Felice Kapp.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, South Carolina. A small reception will be held at his residence following the service.
