Charles "Chuck" Paul Mains, Jr., 72, of Charleston, husband of Mary Michel Mains, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Roper Hospital due to ongoing health problems. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Mains, Jr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:30 PM, Monday, December 2, 2013 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway. The burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home. Charles was born on October 24, 1941, a son of Charles P. Mains, Sr. and Dorothy Nelson Mains. A lifelong Charlestonian, Chuck worked as a supervisor at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and then later at the College of Charleston. Earlier in his life he honored our country as well as our local citizens by serving as both a Charleston Fireman and a member of The United States Coast Guard. He was both a man of honor and a true friend to all. Charles leaves behind his loving wife, Mary, their children; Charles P. Mains III, Richard P. Mains, and Nicole M. Fagala, a beloved son-in-law, Paul Edward Fagala, and two wonderful daughters-in-law, Tammy Mains and Maureen Mains. Finally, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren; Johnny, Joshua, Michael, Cam, Cory, Jordon, and last but certainly not least, his only granddaughter, Carson Taylor Fagala, as well as his four great-grandchildren. Additionally, he will be missed by his brother, Michael Mains, and sisters; Trisha Ammon, Suzy Shierlock, and Ruthie Teppersmith, and her husband Jack. Finally his second set of family of brothers and sisters that will miss him greatly are his brothers-in-law, Joe Badger and Dr. Kenneth A. Dodds, and sisters-in-law, Dr. Helen M. Dodds, Meg Michel Badger, and Julia Michel Dyer. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and many close friends he held dear.
