Charles Funke

Charles A. Funke entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening, June 23, 2012. Born March 25, 1930, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lilian M. Funke. Charley was the son of Harry A. and Cecil Funke, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother John Funke, and sisters, Jo Ann Robertson (Charlie), Mary Kay Vestring, and Helen Kennally. Preceding him in death was a brother, Harry A. Funke, Jr. He is survived by his children: Debra A.Whitehouse (Robert), Barbara A. Bell (Spencer), Larry S. Funke (Susan), and Gary A. Funke. He is also survived by grandchildren: John Lyons (Ann), Mike Lyons, Danny Lyons (Christine), Allison Whitehouse, Rebecca Whitehouse, Andrew Bell, Anna Bell, Jessica Funke, Julia Funke, Steven Funke, Mary Grace Funke, and Abbey Funke. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Sydney Lyons and Gloria Grace Lyons. Preceding him in death were daughter Sandra Lyons (John), son Charles A. Funke, Jr., and grandson Joseph S. Bell. Charley was deeply committed to his Catholic faith, attending daily mass. He was president of Professional Business Systems, Inc. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his role as son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Funke are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial for the former at 10:30 am Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Christ our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant. The Rite of Committal will be at 3:00 pm at Lexington Memorial Gardens, Lexington, SC. Donations may be made to Christ our King Catholic Church, or to the Hospice Center of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC.
