Charles Turner Fabian, 84, of Charleston, SC died peacefully with his family on the morning of November 28, 2013. The relatives and friends of Mr. Charles Turner Fabian are invited to a Gathering of Friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the Carolina Yacht Club, 50 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Born June 15, 1929 in Charleston, SC, Charles, better know as "Charlie, Fab, Doc, and Dad", was the first born of Turner Lamar and Inez Kyzer Fabian. Charles married Louise Rutledge Grubb from Wytheville, VA on August 1, 1959 and had three beautiful children. He attended Charleston High School and received his BS in Business from the Citadel in 1951. From 1951 to 1954, Charles served as a first lieutenant in the Korean War. On his return, he attended the Virginia Common Wealth Medical School and graduated with a DSS in 1959. An outstanding athlete, Charles was chosen as SC High School Athlete of 1946. He was voted Best Athlete his senior year and lettered in football, basketball and baseball all 4 years at the Citadel. He was then voted into the Citadel Hall of Fame in 1979 for football, basketball and baseball. If Charlie wasn't at work, he probably could be found on the golf course, or hunting, or at Rockville, or at the Yacht Club back bar or Hibernian. Charles had a big presence in the community and was a member of the Hibernian, Carolina Yacht Club, Charleston Country Club, Alhambra Supper Club, Hutchinson Island Hunting Club and Grace Episcopal Church. Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend. Most of all, he cherished his wife and children. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise Grubb Fabian, daughters Anne Fabian Lanier and Beth Fabian Landers, daughter in law Mary Fabian, son Charles Turner Fabian, Jr. and sons in law, Andrew Landers and Robert Lanier, grandchildren; Mayzie and Turner Fabian III and Casey and Drew Landers and brother James Fabian.
