Cecil Ralph "Smitty" Smith Sr., 84, husband of Mary Frances Smith, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on July 3, 2016, at his residence. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil R. Smith, Sr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday between 6:00 and 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Cecil was born in Honea Path, SC on January 19th, 1932, son of the late Ralph Carnege Smith and Gladys Gertrude Smith. He was a graduate of Murray Vocational High School and of Trident Technical College with a mechanical engineering associate degree. Cecil was a longtime employee of Coburg Dairy, retired as the Plant Manager and then stayed on as a consultant. He was inducted into the Clemson Dairy Hall of Fame. He was a member of First Scotts Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC. Smitty was a standing member of the Exchange Club of Charleston where he loved serving his fellow members by cooking in the kitchen. He loved and enjoyed his family, friends and pets, NASCAR races, fishing, and listening to country music.He was predeceased by: his parents; two sisters, Nadine Clardy and Ralphine Armour. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Frances Smith; their children: Francine Morrow (Neal), Cecil Smith, Jr., "Bubba", and Karen Manges (Bob); his grandchild: Angel Goodrich; his great grandchildren: Julius Perry and Castiel Perry; his sister: Mary Anne Erlinger (Larry); his brother-in-law: Walt Armour and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
