Catherine Elizabeth O'Donnell

Entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 7, 2009 Catherine Elizabeth Cushing O'Donnell, beloved wife of Roger E. O'Donnell, of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Roger E. O'Donnell are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Friday, December 11, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Mrs. O'Donnell was born in Pittsfield, MA, a daughter of Daniel H. and Adelaide Doutaz Cushing on October 8, 1915. A graduate of Pittsfield High School and Berkshire Business College, Mrs. O'Donnell was employed as a stenographer at General Electric Company. During her years in Pittsfield, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was an avid snow skier and a member of the Ski Patrol at Bosquet's Ski Resort. In Charleston, Mrs. O'Donnell was an active member of many community groups, and the Country Club of Charleston where she was a two time winner of the ladies golf championship. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Roger E. O' O'Donnell, two daughters, Suzanne McLaughlin, and Cecily A. Purcell; four grandchildren and a great grandson; a sister, Rita Cushing; and a cousin, Rita A. Sherman. She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Roger Cushing and a sister, Jane Mohan.
