Isle of Palms Entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 29, 2012, Catherine Agnes McDonough Brandt, the widow of Julian V. Brandt, Jr. She was born in Reading, MA on May 30, 1923, a daughter of Bartholomew and Catherine MacDonaugh McDonough. Catherine moved to Charleston after graduating from Boston University and worked at MUSC as a bacteriologist. She also had other careers. One as a school teacher at both Nativity Catholic School and Cathedral Catholic School. She was also the first licensed woman John Handcock insurance agent in SC. Catherine led an active life which included her love of the outdoors, travel, landscape artist, and volunteer work helping the Sisters of Mercy at their convent on Legare St. She was an active member of several organizations including the Alliance de Francais of Charleston and was a current board member of the Shepherd Center of Mt. Pleasant. The relatives and friends of Catherine Mc. Brandt are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Stella Maris Catholic Church, Sullivan's Island, SC The Rite of Committal will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
