Charleston - Carolyn McKay Sweeten Carolyn McKay Sweeten, 93, widow of James I. Sweeten, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 6, 2014. The relatives and friends of Carolyn M. Sweeten are invited to attend her Visitation between 5:00 & 7:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2014, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Final interment at St. Lawrence Cemetery will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be offered at www.JamesAMcAlister.com. A native of Charleston, Carolyn was born February 15, 1921, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Cecilia S. McKay. A graduate of Bishop England High School (Class of 1938), she also attended business school and worked for First Federal Savings and Loan as a Savings Counselor. Carolyn was a die-hard Clemson fan, and was a member of the "Front Four", a group which included Beverly, CT, Belva, and Carolyn ("Sweetie"). She was a special person who never met a stranger and was loved by many. She was a generous person, always giving of her time to help others. Her grandchildren were a big part of her life and she became an adopted grandmother to many of their friends, who were always included in birthdays, graduations, and other milestones. She will be missed. Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne Game and husband Gil, Jane Meyer and husband Ray, 8 Grandchildren: Jay, Jamey, Chip, & Andy Game, Michael Meyer and wife Gillian, Matthew, Kimberly, & Aimee Meyer; 5 Great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Justin, Jana, & Sarah Game, and Jack Meyer; Brother, William L. McKay and wife Ann Marie. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lawrence and Robert McKay, and her sister Helen. The family also wants to thank her caregiver Yvonne Rivers, who faithfully cared for her the past six years.
