Caroline Ehrhardt Condon died Monday, October 26, 2009. Caroline was born September 4, 1934 in Charleston, a daughter of Bernard Theodore and Elisabeth Prince Ehrhardt. She was a graduate of Bishop England High School and attended the University of South Carolina where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In 1955 Caroline married James Mathewes Condon and together they raised seven children. Caroline always opened her heart and her home to their children's friends. She was an expert at feeding the "masses". Caroline had an antique business, "Something Unique" for many years and was an avid bridge player. She also worked as the school secretary at Blessed Sacrament Church, a job she truly enjoyed. She attended Nativity Church with her family where she was very active in the Nativity School. She also volunteered her time to the Bishop England PTA. Caroline was devoted to her children and grandchildren who affectionately knew her as Lina. She was predeceased by her husband, her sister Elizabeth Ehrhardt DeFilippis and three grandchildren. She leaves behind seven loving children - Caroline Wilbanks Condon Lavigne and her husband, Raymond , of Irmo; James Mathewes Condon, Jr. and his wife, Beljica, of Charleston; Ann Ehrhardt Condon deSaussure and her husband, Charlton, of Charleston; Ellen Elisabeth Condon Collins and her husband, Edwin, of Greenville; Bernard Eugene Condon and his wife, Stephanie, of Annapolis, MD; Mary Louise Condon Stephenson and her husband, Robert, of Greenville; and Elizabeth Tighe Condon Pritchard and her husband, Thomas, of Charleston; a sister, Mary Stoll Ehrhardt Ferrara and her husband, William, of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Bernard Theodore Ehrhardt, Jr. and his wife, Nina Robinson, of Brooklyn, NY; her sister-in-law, Mary Condon Schill and her husband, Gustave; her brothers-in-law Rev. Eugene Luke Condon and George William Condon and his wife, Ruby, all of Charleston; and Nicholas DeFilippis of Ridgefield, CT; 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.The family will receive friends at the James A McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway this Tuesday evening from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow immediately at the Holy Cross Cemetary. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament School Building Fund, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston SC 29407. Her children would like to offer a special thanks to their dear sister Carin, her husband Raymond and their children for the extraordinary love, care and affection they provided our mother over the past two years.
