Caroline (Carolyn) H. Campbell peacefully passed away on April 21, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Michael F. Campbell are invited to attend Her Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy. Friday between 5:30 and 7:30 PM. Her Guestbook may be signed at www.JamesAMcAlister.com Caroline was born in Charleston, SC, the daughter of the late William H. Hoppmann and Marie Dean Hoppmann. She attended Charleston parochial schools and graduated from Bishop England High School. Caroline studied voice under Vernon Weston and sang with the Charleston Choral Society under his direction. For fifty years, she was the lead soprano soloist with the choirs of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church. Although she was identified closely with choir work, she was also known for her accomplishments in musical theatre. Caroline appeared in over 25 Pilot Club Musicals as the lead soloist. Besides cherishing her grandchildren, she took much pride in her Atlanta Braves jacket autographed by Bobby Cox and John Smoltz and her signed Pavarotti picture that simply said, "Caroline, I will sing with you in heaven!" Caroline is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mike Campbell, her five sons, Michael (Polly), Walter (Lynn), Stephen (Carla), Ralph, and Paul (Lia) as well as, her 9 grandchildren, Eric, Robert (Roberta), Sara Jane, Matthew, Zach, Sean, Scott, Celia, and Ryan.
