Carol R. Meyer, 68, wife of Francis A. "Frank" Meyer of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest at home Saturday, October 27, 2018. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meyer are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM Wednesday, with a 6:30 PM Rosary, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. Online Condolences may be offered at www.CharlestonFunerals.com.
Carol was born in Honolulu and her early childhood years were spent on the beautiful island of Chi Chi Jima in the Pacific Ocean with six other Navy families. The Ring family was transferred to Charleston in 1957, and she proudly made Charleston her home for the rest of her life. She attended Blessed Sacrament School and Bishop England High School where she met Frank and they became high school sweethearts. Carol and Frank continued dating through her years at Winthrop College and married in 1972. Carol always wanted to raise a family and her dream was realized with the birth of her children. She made it her passion to ensure her children achieved all their dreams. Although Carol never played any sports, she was a fixture in the stands cheering on her children and grandchildren for the past 36 years. Over the years she enjoyed her craft group, shopping trips with her friends and talking on the phone. As much as she loved her children, the absolute greatest joy in her life were her five grandchildren. She devoted her life to planning holidays, family gatherings and trips to be with her family. Because she always had a love for beach, her family will forever be grateful for the time that they all got to spend together during a memorable summer vacation. She will forever be missed by all of those who loved her.
Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Frank Meyer; and her four children: Karen Smith (James); David (Christina); Drew (Christy) and Steven; her five grandchildren: Caroline, Amelia, Sullivan, Hudson, and Nena; and her sisters Darlene Ostrander and Kathy Bland. She was predeceased by her parents Edward C. Ring and Dorothy B. Ring.
Memorials may be made to the Bishop England High School Endowment Fund. Arrangements by James A. McAlister, (843) 766-1365.
