Carin Cavaliere McCrae, 69, wife of John McCrae of Charleston, SC passed away Thursday, April 26th, 2018. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John McCrae are invited to attend her Funeral Service 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the First Assembly of God, 2957 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, N. Charleston.
Mrs. McCrae was born December 12th, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York, the firstborn of Aurelio “Leo” and Margaret Cavaliere. In 1965 her family relocated to Charleston, South Carolina. In the fall of 1966 she met John McCrae. They courted for four years before marrying on August 9th, 1970 at the Unitarian Church of Charleston, and they were inseparable ever since. She studied Economic and Public Policy at the College of Charleston and Business Administration at the Citadel.
Mrs. McCrae worked as a Management Analyst for the United States Navy for many years before becoming a Systems Analyst for the United States Air Force. She later went on to work in Procurement for the City of Charleston, and after her retirement she worked for the Charleston County School of the Arts.
Mrs. McCrae is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, John McCrae, her son Ryan McCrae and his wife, Melissa, her son, Paul McCrae, and her three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Matthew, and Brianna. Mrs. McCrae will be remembered most for her unconditional, loving generosity and selflessness. Her capacity for love and nurturing were not limited to her family and friends, but extended to everyone she met. Her life will always serve as an inspiration of strength, love, and class.
