Camille Ryan Young, 98, a lifelong resident of Charleston, died Thursday, July 26, 2012. Camille was the widow of William H. Young, her husband of forty-nine years. She was born September 14, 1913, at 22 North Tracy Street in Charleston, a daughter of William Patrick Ryan and Rosalie Jefferson Ryan. Camille was educated in the Charleston Catholic school system, was first employed by American Tobacco Company,more commonly referred to as "The Cigar Factory" and later for many years at Carroll Seafood. She was proud to be a native of Charleston, loved the childhood home and street on which she was born, was proud of her Irish heritage and always enjoyed a good laugh with her brothers. Camille was predeceased by her three brothers, Gilbert Francis Ryan, Jester William Ryan and Orrin Patrick Ryan, all of whom were gifted with a great Irish wit. She is survived by her three children, Rita J. Young, George Young, and Michael Young (Debbie). She is also survived by one grandson, Kevin Young. The family would like to thank Janine, Penny, Hattie, Nancy, Trudy and the entire staff at Carter May Home for the loving care they provided "Queen Camille" during her residency there. Thanks also to the residential staff and hospice team at Heartland West Ashley who attended her in her final days. The relatives and friends of Camille R. Young are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Monday, July 30, 2012, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Sunday afternoon between 4:00 and 6:00 PM. The Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM.
