It is with great sorrow that the DeVore, Hough and Proffitt families announce the passing of Brittani Hough-Proffitt of Charleston, South Carolina. She was surrounded by her loving family. She also attended Miss Pennsylvania as Miss Greater Johnstown.
Brittani furthered her education at Mercyhurst University in Erie PA. In 2010 she obtained a Bachelor of Communications with a concentration in Strategic Communications with a minor in business development. This is where she met her besties: Jackie Flick, Chelsea Finlay and Ashley Shrode. During college she worked for Scott’s Enterprise as the Manager of the Safari Grille as well as the wedding/event planner for Courtyard Marriott and Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center under Wanda Hough. Brittani also loved to help people in any way she could. The Lord called her to help those less fortunate and she traveled to Guatemala and Biloxi, Mississippi for mission trips.
After graduation, Brittani moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she started her career with Brentwood Academy for two years. Her love for fitness and health lead her to buy her own gym, Crossfit Spartina in 2019. She made many friends and connections and always thought of them as her gym family. She was so overwhelmed with thankfulness these past few months when they helped coordinate her wedding. She competed in South Carolina’s National Physique Committee Competition where she placed third overall. One of her proudest moments was when she was named Charleston’s Finest and raised over $11,000.00 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

“I give you this one thought to keep—I am with you still –I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds at blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not think of me as gone—I am with you still—in each new dawn.”
