Robert “Bob” Imbus, 95, entered into heaven in the early morning hours of January 18, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born November 22, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Herman Joseph Imbus and Agnes Marie Everhard. After graduation from Central High School Bob entered the Army where he learned to translate and send the morse code.
He was President of Apollo Savings and Loan in Cincinnati for over 35 years where he never missed a day of work. Bob was a gourmet chef and an avid gardener.
After he retired from Apollo in 1993, Bob and Judy moved to South Carolina to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather who loved attending his grandsons’ soccer games and granddaughters’ equestrian events. Every phone call ended with “I love you more.”
In retirement Bob attended daily mass every morning praying for his family and those in need and thanking God for all his blessings. He dearly loved his church family and clergy. He was active in St. Mary of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Church, The Saint Vincent DePaul Society, the Lowcountry Food Bank and Roper St. Francis Hospital including 4200 hours of volunteer service. Bob also received the Exchange Club of Charleston’s 2004 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award and the President’s Call to Service Award. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and bridge with friends, his Gourmet Men’s Club and a Rosary Group which he started.
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Judith Clark Imbus; four brothers, Henry, William, James and Dick; and one sister, Mary. He is survived by his daughter, Aimee Pearce (Blake); his grandsons, Blake, Jr. and Ellison; his son, Robb Imbus (Kimberly); his granddaughters, Bailey and Madison; his brother, Tommy; his three sisters, Laverne, Rita and Elaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, February 9, 2024, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Church, 95 Hasell St, Charleston, SC. The Rite of Committal at Mepkin Abbey will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The Saint Vincent De Paul Society, c/o The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
