Colonel Billy T. White, US Army (Ret.), of St. Petersburg, FL.
Col. White was born in Monroe, LA on 23 November 1933, the son of Mr. & Mrs. A.T. White. He died on August 3, 2023. He was graduated from the University of Louisiana Monroe with a BS degree and Michigan State University with a Masters degree. Among Col. White’s tours of duty were Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Hawaii and various stateside assignments.
His decorations and awards included Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Combat Stars, Master Parachutist Badge, Infantry Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation with Palm.
His volunteer services included Chairman, Board of Adjustment, City of St. Petersburg; President, Venetian Isles HOA, Meals on Wheels and the United Way. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, the Vinoy Golf Club, and the Beech Mountain Club in North Carolina.
Colonel White is preceded in death by his wife, Treva Joan (TJ) White, and daughter, Deborah Kaye Reed. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Danee of Charleston, SC; two grandsons, Robert Thomas Evans (Nikki) and Cody Daryl Reed; great-grandson Thomas Beckett Evans; stepsons Jeffrey Paul James (Ione) of Tampa, FL and Jesse Scott James (Janet) of Boise, ID.
Graveside services with Full Military Honors will take place January 4, 2024 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
