Billy Eugene Bagley, Sr., 87, husband to Thelma Bagley, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 after a long illness. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Bagley are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road. The family will receive friends Monday evening between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. Billy was born on December 4, 1929 in Gadsden, Alabama a son of the late Grover and Mary Bagley. He was a veteran of the Korean War and an ironworker from Local 25 that built buildings and bridges in Detroit, Michigan before retiring. Billy also enjoyed working in his garage, tinkering, and had one of the most beautiful Christmas yards in the Low Country. His family and friends were very important to him and he would lend a helping hand to anyone at anytime. He was a man tall in stature, quiet and kind. Surviving, in addition to his loving wife Thelma of nearly 62 years, are brothers, JW (Helen), Bob (Glenda), and Ernest (Betty); children, Sherry (Milton), Billy Jr. (Laura), Martha (Greg), Mike (Sheila); grandchildren, Edie (Joe), Billy III (Laura), Elizabeth (Bryon), Paul (Brittney), Graham (Carey), Jesse, Joshua, and a redheaded step-granddaughter, Julie (Dusty); great-grandchildren, Joshua Jr., Jaelyn, Bryon Jr., Brianna, Hayden, and Weston. A special thank you goes to the 4th Floor Congestive Heart Failure nurses at Roper Hospital, the nurses at Roper Hospice, Dixie (our hot mess), Becky and Lori. Dad’s great doctors, Dr. Charles Geer, Dr. Billy Grossman, Dr. William Dawson, and Dr. Appleby.
