Betty Lou Owens

February 21, 1940 — June 9, 2010

Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 Betty Lou Thomas Owens, widow of E. Chandler Owens. Betty was born in Calloway, VA a daughter of Maynard B. and Daisy Guilliams Thomas on Wednesday, February 21, 1940. She was a graduate of McCellanville High School. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who lived her life for her family, always providing for their every need. As her children were growing up, she spent countless hours on the ball fields and volunteering at the Blessed Sacrament School and Bishop England lunchrooms. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life - nothing could put a smile on her face faster than spending time with them. Cheering them on in baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and dance was something she immensely enjoyed. Shopping sprees and lunch outings with her granddaughters, as well as just spending time at Granny's, also brought her great joy. Betty was proud of her country roots in McClellanville and loved spending time there with her sisters and brothers. She recently enjoyed recalling fond memories at her 50-year high school reunion. In addition to family, her Bridge friends of many years were very dear to her. Betty will be missed by many, but we will continue to enjoy her through our many happy memories Surviving are three children, Kathleen O. Grisillo and her husband, John, Michael C.
