Betty Ann Jennings

Mrs. Betty Ann Jones Jennings, 90, of Johns Island, South Carolina, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday morning May 2, 2025.

Betty's graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC. Flowers will be graciously accepted or memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org).

Mrs. Jennings was born July 24, 1934, in Williams, SC, a daughter of Jesse James Jones and Louise Advillar Kinard Jones. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, listening to her record collection and spoiling her many pets. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Doris McCauley; brother, Jesse Jones, Jr.; sister, Peggy Jones; son, William China "Billy" Poplin, Jr. and grandson, David Knaub.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 45 years, Clayton Jennings; her children: Linda Caylor (Jay) of Sumter, SC, Cheryl Poplin of Summerville, SC, Robert Poplin (Sharon) of Sumter, SC, Donna Basso (Mike) of Sumter, SC; her grandchildren: Paula Murdock (Chad) of Charleston, SC, Jennifer Henderson (Jimmy) of North Charleston, SC, Wally Durham of Kingstree, SC, Amy Poplin of Sumter, SC, Michael Westmoreland of Virginia, Katie Durham of Summerville, SC, Loren Poplin of Bristol, VA, Timmy Poplin (Zoe) of Bristol, TN, Ashleigh Riggs (Will) of Sumter, SC, Travis Floyd (Sarah) of Dalzell, SC, Jessica Basso of Sumter, SC; her great-grandchildren: Cameron Gauthier of Maine, Cody Snethen of Sumter, SC, Gray and Park Murdock of Charleston, SC, Nolyn Poplin of Bristol, VA, Graison and Paisley Riggs of Sumter, SC, Liam and Luke Floyd of Sumter, SC, Ezra Poplin of Bristol, TN and many loved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Wren Hospice Staff for their kindness and services. And a special thank you to her nurse, Char, for exceptional care and compassion.
