Dr. Barbara Anne Tabar Zaremba beloved mother, grandmother and friend began her eternal life on Thursday, May 7, 2009. She was born in Cleveland, OH, August 6, 1939, the daughter of Joseph Francis Tabar and Lillian Moore Tabar. Dr. Zaremba received her Doctorate in Education Administration from The College of William and Mary. As a professor at The University of Nevada-Reno: The National College of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, The College of William and Mary, The University of Alaska, and The University of Virginia she had a profound impact on a multitude of families across the country. Dr. Zaremba embraced the opportunity to guide others with her compassion, as the Program Designer and Director of the O.A.S.I.S. and C.S.I. programs at The Citadel. She was an integral part in the development and served as a board member of the Charleston Transition College. Among her many accomplishments, she was the Project Manager for The National Center for State Courts and Eastern State Hospital, a consultant for Virginia Tech, Newport News Juvenile and Family Courts and a private practice educational consultant in Charleston. Dr. Zaremba was a member of several committees including: the Committee on Diversity, First Year Experience Organizational Committee, NCAA Recertification subcommittee on Female Equity Assimilation, Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Teaching Academy Campus Program, Establishment Committee, and the Center for Teaching Excellence. She advocated the rights of students with disabilities by giving countless lectures and presentations. Dr. Zaremba has several published works in the areas of education and juvenile justice. Through her professional and personal life she touched the lives of countless people and considered them family. She is survived by her three daughters, Lynn Veriato, Lori Snawder, Jodi Zaremba and her four grandchildren, Kara, Jared, Michael and Jacob. The relatives and friends of Dr. Barbara A. Zaremba are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in the Summerall Chapel at The Citadel. The visitation and committal services will be private.
