It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Barbara Rushing McQuillan, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2026. Born May 3, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia, Barbara built a life in Charleston, South Carolina full of devotion to her Christian faith, love for family, and dedication to primary education.

She spent her time caring for her granddaughters, children, husband, and as a servant of Christ. Her family will remember her for always putting the needs of her loved ones above her own, and for encouraging family and friends to strengthen their faith in Jesus by attending church on Sundays.

She is survived by her husband Monty Earl McQuillan, daughter Alicia (Travis) McCory, son Merritt (Amy) Smith, and her granddaughters Elle McCory, Aubrey McCory, and Lula Smith. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Lewis and Kathleen Rushing, and her sister Ellen Infinger. A service honoring her life will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church in Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Her spirit of love and kindness continues to inspire all who knew her.
