Arlene P. Sullivan, 90, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on March 16, 2017, on Johns Island, SC. The relatives and friends of Arlene P. Sullivan are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, Monday, March 20, 2017 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Msgr. Charles Rowland of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will be officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.Arlene was born in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of Frank Butler and Marie Farnham Butler, on October 22, 1926. She went to Dwight Morrow High School in Edgewater, NJ. She worked as a secretary for William Morris Advertising Agency and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, animals, and reading. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Sullivan; daughter, Kathleen Sullivan and son-in-law, James “Jim” Roodvoets. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Roodvoets of Indianapolis and Susan Rowland (Christopher “Larry”) of Charleston; four grandchildren, Amy Norton, Eddie Roodvoets, Brian Rowland and Kimberly Rowland, and four great-grandchildren, Lydia Norton, Jacob Rowland, Matthew Rowland, and Emily Rowland. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Betty Murray, Willmae Freeman and all of the staff at Dayspring of Johns Island for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
