Agnes Annette Burns passed away on the morning of Saturday, July 9, 2022. Annette was born in Atlanta, GA on May 23, 1942, the oldest of four children born to Agnes Pratt Burns and Lofton M Burns.
Annette graduated Bishop England HS in 1960, then went on to graduate St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing in 1963. She enjoyed a 44 year career as a registered nurse at St Francis Xavier Hospital where she spent the majority of her years managing the Outpatient/Emergency Dept. She loved her job and her employees whom she often referred to as her “children”.
In addition to devoting her time and talents to her career at St. Francis, she enjoyed doting on her niece, nephews and great-nieces.
Annette was genuinely devout in her faith and loved her church. She was generous of her time and resources supporting her favorite charities and church activities.
Annette is survived by her brother, William D Burns (Judith Crowe Burns); sister, Barbara Burns Pike; niece, Geri Pike Moss (Jon); nephews, Steve Burns, Scott Burns (Cassie), Jeff Pike (Natalie) and Jackson Hamilton and brother-in-law, William Jackson Hamilton III. She also leaves behind her great-nieces, Evie and Laine Moss, Holly and Frances Pike and Chloe Burns, who she loved and cherished immensely.
She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Julia Burns Hamilton.
The relatives and friends of Agnes Annette Burns are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Friday, July 15, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Thursday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
