Anita Louise Little Tankersley of Mt. Pleasant, SC, wife of Timothy H. Peaco, took her place in the next phase of life eternal on Monday, March 20, 2023.
Anita was born in 1945, in DeFuniak Spring, FL, the last child of George Ernest and Nora Dillard Little. Family and close friends knew her by the nickname 'Daisey'. She was a 1963 graduate of Walton High School in DeFuniak Springs, FL and moved to the Charleston, SC area in July 1963, attended Spartanburg Junior College, Spartanburg, SC, Trident Technical College and The College of Charleston.
Anita was a bookkeeper and office manager for many years before going into business for herself as owner and manager of 'Pleasant Dreams', (lingerie and loungeware retail store) in Mt. Pleasant, until her retirement due to health reasons in 1986. After her retirement from activity on a daily basis outside the home, she continued to be busy with personal real-estate and other investment activity.
She was previously active in the community with the Mt. Pleasant Jaycee-ettes, formerly on the Board of Directors of the National Foundation-March of Dimes and a former volunteer at Roper Hospital in Charleston. Currently she was a member of The Woman's Club of Charleston, Hibben Methodist Church and HLHOA in Mt. Pleasant. She is the owner of Live Oak Center (Business and Professional Park) and the former owner of Mr. Shine Shoe Shine Parlor in Mt. Pleasant. An avid reader, she also was the writer of several published essays.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband, John Pinckney Tankersley, Jr.; three sisters: Lt. Col. Juanita Little, USAFNC, Angeline Little Normand and Helen Little Carter; three brothers, George Randolph Little, Carlton Brice Little and Thomas Harvell Little.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Lana Tankersley Meredith of South Bend, IN; a stepson, John P. 'Jack' Tankersley Ill of Mt. Pleasant; five step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Little of DeFuniak Springs, FL.; a sister, Grace Little Marse of Point Washington, FL. and several nieces, nephews, friends and pets.
Anita's Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday March 26, 2023, at the Cryptside in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. NO callers nor visitors will be received at her residence and it is expressly requested that no food nor flowers be sent.
Memorials may be made in the form of unexpected kindness to one another, helping someone or a donation to a charity of one's choice.
Anita Tankersley did not have a easy life, but made a good and happy time of it anyway thinking of and taking care
of others, while doing it 'her way'.
